The UNC women’s cross country team was selected to participate in the upcoming 2020 NCAA Cross Country Championships, the program’s first time being selected since 2014.

On the men’s side, UNC’s John Tatter was one of 38 individuals selected to compete–making him the first Tar Heel male to qualify for the event since 2015.

Teams selected to run consist of seven runners and an alternate. Representing the UNC women is a group that includes: Sasha Neglia, Mady Clahane, Ava Dobson, Emmeline Fisher, Kelsey Harrington, Paige Hofstad, Taryn Parks and Sarah Trainor.

In the Tar Heels’ last appearance as a team in 2014, they finished 22nd overall. The best finish at the NCAA Championships in team history is sixth place back in 1999.

UNC is one of five teams in the women’s field this season, joining Duke, Florida State, NC State and Georgia Tech.

The NCAA Cross Country Championships will take place in Stillwater, Oklahoma on March 15.
