After suffering back-to-back losses at home to Hofstra and Richmond, the No. 7 UNC men’s lacrosse team received a much needed pick-me-up on Saturday night–earning a 17-6 victory over Dartmouth at Fetzer Field.

Luke Goldstock, Andy Matthews and Chris Cloutier each notched a hat trick for the Tar Heels, who had 10 different players find the back of the net throughout the course of the game.

Cloutier–a junior attacker–also matched his career high by tallying four assists to go along with his three goals.

Dartmouth got two goals from Richie Loftus late in the first quarter, which allowed the underdog Big Green (1-4) to enter the second quarter tied up at 2-2.

From there, though, the UNC offense began to get into a rhythm–scoring five goals in each of the next three quarters while the defense refused to surrender any easy opportunities on the other end.

The Tar Heels also doubled up Dartmouth in both shots (54-27) and faceoff wins (18-9) on the way to an easy victory.

It was a much-needed bounce back game for the Tar Heels (5-3), especially with a national championship rematch against No. 4 Maryland coming up next weekend.

For head coach Joe Breschi, it was his 99th career victory since taking over at UNC.
