The UNC football team revealed the jersey numbers for its incoming freshmen defenders on Monday, with the most notable selection coming from safety Ja’Quirous Conley–who will become the first player in program history to wear the number zero.
This is the direct result of a recent NCAA rule change earlier this year, which made the number zero legal for players to wear in football.
Conley is a 6-foot-2-inch safety from Northside High School in Jacksonville, North Carolina. He was ranked by 24/7 Sports as a four-star prospect and the No. 9 safety in the country for the Class of 2020.

Other notable number selections on the defensive side of the ball include highly-touted defensive end Desmond Evans, who will wear number 10, and defensive tackle Clyde Pinder Jr., who will sport number 55 this fall.
