The UNC football program is currently mourning the loss of former defensive lineman Tommy Davis, who died last week from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was 37 years old.

Davis played for UNC from 2002-2005 and was a starter in each of his final two seasons. His best season came in 2004 when he racked up 48 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and three sacks.

To this day, Davis still holds the UNC records for the bench press (460 lbs), the power clean (363), and in squatting (640) by a defensive end.

Undrafted by the NFL, Davis went on to spend time as a free agent with the New Orleans Saints, New York Giants and the Washington Redskins in 2006.

Some of Davis’s former college teammates have put together a fundraiser in his honor, which can be found by clicking here.
