UNC junior catcher Brandon Martorano was one of 78 players selected earlier this week to the watch list for this year’s Buster Posey Award, which is given out annually to the top Division I catcher.

Previously named the Johnny Bench Award, this will represent the 20th anniversary of the trophy.

So far this season, Martorano is hitting .246 with three home runs and 18 RBIs. He has started in 28 of UNC’s 29 games, helping guide the Tar Heels to a 22-7 record.
