UNC baseball rolled through NCAA Regional play in Chapel Hill and now awaits a Super Regional opponent.

Carolina knocked off each of the other three teams in the regional over the weekend.

The Tar Heels defeated second-seeded Tennessee 5-2 on Sunday to move on to Super Regional play, after going undefeated in Chapel Hill.

The Volunteers fought off elimination earlier Sunday by beating No. 3 Liberty, after the Flames knocked off Tennessee to open the tournament on Friday.

Carolina jumped out to an early lead over their neighbor to the west by scoring four runs in the top of the first inning.

Tennessee’s bullpen pitching settled the team down and kept the Tar Heels off the scoreboard as the Volunteer bats tried to keep their season alive.

UT pushed across runs in the bottom of the second and fourth, but UNC starting pitcher Austin Bergner was impressive over seven innings, striking out eight.

An insurance run for UNC in the sixth inning pushed the score to its final margin.

The Chapel Hill regional is matched up with the play in Atlanta, where ACC peer Georgia Tech was hosting a regional. But the Yellow Jackets were eliminated Sunday by the Auburn Tigers.

UNC will host Auburn in the Super Regionals starting later this week.
