UNC baseball entered the ACC Tournament on the bubble to host a regional to open the NCAA Tournament, but a conference title solidified Carolina’s place as a host.

The Tar Heels will open NCAA Tournament play in Chapel Hill and will be joined by second-seeded Tennessee, No. 3 seed Liberty and fourth-seeded UNC – Wilmington.

Carolina played UNCW twice this season, willing 4-3 in Chapel Hill in February and 11-4 in Wilmington in mid-March. Liberty knocked off the Tar Heels in Lynchburg by a 2-0 margin on March 19, before Carolina won the rematch in Chapel Hill 11-5 in late April.

The winner of Chapel Hill’s regional will go on to face the winner of the Atlanta regional, hosted by ACC counterpart Georgia Tech.

Carolina knocked off the Yellow Jackets 10-2 in the ACC Championship.

UNC will open NCAA Regional play against UNCW on Friday at 2 p.m.
