The UNC baseball team has built a two-game lead atop the ACC Coastal Division, riding a red-hot pitching staff to a fantastic start to the 2017 season.
On Monday, the Tar Heels also moved up two spots in the D1Baseball.com Top 25–checking at No. 8 this week as they continue to show no signs of a letdown moving forward.
Atlantic Division leaders Louisville (No. 2) and Clemson (No. 5) remain the only teams in the ACC ranked ahead of UNC.
Oregon State, which has lost just once all season, remains at No. 1–with No. 3 Texas Tech and No. 4 TCU joining Louisville and Clemson in the top five.
The ACC again has five teams among the poll, also including No. 12 Florida State and No. 18 Virginia.
Only the SEC has more ranked teams than the ACC, having seven of its 14 members as part of the top 25 this week.
UNC will have a chance to significantly improve its standing over the next few days, as the Tar Heels will play host to the defending national champion Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on Tuesday–before traveling to Tallahassee to face Florida State three times over the weekend.
