The UNC baseball team fell behind 6-0 in the first four innings on Tuesday night at Boshamer Stadium, before ultimately falling 6-3 to Coastal Carolina.
A trio of solo home runs across the first and second innings gave the Chanticleers (18-13) an early 3-0 lead against UNC starting pitcher Max Alba. In the fourth inning, Coastal Carolina took advantage of a walk, an error and a two-run triple to go ahead by six.
The Tar Heels (18-16) finally got on the board in the home half of the fourth inning, thanks to a solo shot from senior Dallas Tessar.
Brett Centracchio’s RBI single made it 6-2 in the seventh, while UNC recorded three straight singles in the ninth–including an RBI by Caleb Roberts.
The comeback attempt fell short, however, as Coastal Carolina prevented any further damage and sealed up the victory on the road.
