Fresh off one of the best individual seasons in UNC wrestling history, redshirt senior Troy Heilmann was recognized Sunday at the team awards ceremony as the 2018 T.J. Jaworsky Most Valuable Wrestler.

Heilmann earned All-American recognition for the first time in his career after a fourth-place finish at 149 pounds during the NCAA Wrestling Championships last month.

The New Jersey native went 32-6 in 2018, while claiming his first ACC championship–and joining with fellow All-American Chip Ness to help UNC to its best team finish at the NCAA Championships since 1995.
