UNC freshman quarterback Sam Howell and sophomore offensive lineman Joshua Ezeudu were each named to the All-ACC Academic Football team on Thursday, the only Tar Heels to be recognized.
Eligibility for the All-ACC Academic team is dependent upon student-athletes having a cumulative 3.0 grade point average for their college career and a 3.0 GPA in their most recent semester. On-field accomplishments are also taken into account.
Howell is coming off perhaps the best season throwing the ball by any quarterback in Tar Heel history, finishing with 38 touchdown passes–the third-most in a single season in ACC history.
Ezeudu played in all of UNC’s 13 games and started seven at left guard. He allowed Howell to be sacked only one time, while producing 26 knockdown blocks.
Both players are majoring in sport administration.
