Inside Lacrosse released its annual men’s preseason top 20 rankings on Wednesday, with head coach Joe Breschi’s Tar Heels checking in at No. 10 entering the 2020 season.

Penn State begins the year ranked No. 1, followed by Virginia, Yale, Maryland and Syracuse.

The rest of the top 10 consists of: No. 6 Penn, No. 7 Duke, No. 8 Notre Dame, No. 9 Denver and the Tar Heels.

All five ACC teams are ranked inside the top 10, which explains how UNC was projected to finish fifth in the conference this year in a vote by the league’s five head coaches.

The Tar Heels are scheduled to begin their regular season on Saturday, when they host Colgate at Dorrance Field.
