It came down to the final match of the evening–a winner-take-all showdown at heavyweight–to decide a winner on Friday night at Reynolds Coliseum, but it was the No. 3 ranked NC State Wolfpack who came out victorious in a massive top-10 matchup against No. 8 UNC by a score of 19-14.

NC State’s Deonte Wilson used a late takedown to help seal up a 5-2 win over the Tar Heels’ Andrew Gunning in that heavyweight contest. UNC only trailed by two points on the team score heading into that match–meaning a victory of any kind by Gunning would have won the dual for the Tar Heels (11-2).

The Wolfpack (13-0) won six of the night’s 10 individual matches to remain undefeated on the season.

UNC received a technical fall victory by Kennedy Monday at 165 pounds, while Austin O’Connor (149 pounds), Jaime Hernandez (133 pounds) and Brandon Whitman (197 pounds) each picked up decision wins.
