Playing a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium after Friday’s game was postponed due to snow, the No. 22 UNC baseball team split a pair of games against Dallas Baptist–suffering its first loss of the season in Game Two.
The Tar Heels (6-1) won the first game 9-0 behind a masterful pitching performance from Joey Lancellotti, who struck out seven hitters across seven shutout innings. Angel Zarate led the Tar Heels offensively with three RBIs, while a total of five players drove in at least one run for UNC.
In the second game of the day, Dallas Baptist took a 6-3 victory. A home run for Dallas Baptist in the third inning ended what had been a streak of 25 scoreless innings by the Tar Heel pitching staff.
Another home run in the fourth inning–a two-run shot that hit off the foul poul in left field–put the visitors ahead 4-2, a lead that would ultimately hold up over the rest of the game.
