A dominant performance from guard Tiana Mangakahia helped guide the No. 12 Syracuse Orange to a 90-77 victory over the UNC women’s basketball team on Sunday at the Carrier Dome.

Mangakahia put together a triple-double with 34 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds to lead Syracuse (14-2, 3-0 ACC) to a wire-to-wire victory over the Tar Heels (9-8, 0-3 ACC), who have lost each of their first three conference games.

UNC was led by 22 points from guard Paris Kea and 16 from Stephanie Watts, but it would not be enough to overcome Mangakahia’s career night.

Eight three-pointers in the first quarter helped the Orange build a 32-25 lead in the opening 10 minutes of the game, a margin that would extend to 56-37 by halftime.

The Tar Heels managed to pull within seven points after halftime, but another Syracuse run kept them down by double digits the rest of the way.
