After selecting former UNC designated hitter Aaron Sabato with the 27th overall pick of the 2020 MLB Draft earlier this month, the Minnesota Twins agreed to a contract with him on Tuesday which includes a $2.75 million signing bonus.

That value is $180,000 more than the money assigned to the 27th pick by Major League Baseball.

In his short time at UNC, Sabato made quite the impact with his incredible power. As a freshman in 2019, he set a new UNC rookie record with 18 home runs on the way to the ACC Freshman of the Year award. In just 19 games during the shortened 2020 campaign, he hit a team-high seven home runs to go along with 18 RBIs and 22 walks.

Sabato is expected to be a perfect fit in Minnesota, as the Twins are coming off a season in which they broke the MLB record for home runs in a season by a team.
