By all accounts, Saturday’s 77-62 road loss at Miami was one of the worst offensive performances for UNC since Roy Williams took over as head coach 14 seasons ago.

Despite an impressive win over Virginia Tech on Thursday–not to mention seven of the nation’s top 10 teams suffering at least one loss last week–the Tar Heels slipped from No. 9 to No. 12 in the most recent edition of the AP Top 25.

Monday’s poll moved undefeated Gonzaga into the No. 1 spot for the first time this season, while Baylor, Kansas, Villanova and Arizona represent the rest of the top five.

Louisville, at No. 6, is the top ranked team in the ACC, with No. 9 Virginia moving into the top 1o after coming up just short in its upset bid over Villanova.

The ACC also continues to lead the country with six ranked schools, as Florida State (No. 15), Notre Dame (No. 20) and Duke (No. 21) were also included in the poll.

UNC will look to hold on to its spot atop the league standings with a pair of home games this week. The Tar Heels will host Pittsburgh on Tuesday, with a crucial showdown against Notre Dame looming on Saturday.
