The top-ranked UNC men’s tennis team held on to its undefeated record Sunday afternoon in Atlanta, as the Tar Heels cruised to a 4-1 victory over Georgia Tech.

UNC began its first outdoor match of the season by winning the doubles point, then received singles victories from William Blumberg (6-0, 6-4), Rinky Hijikata (6-2, 6-2) and Brian Cernoch (6-2, 6-2) to clinch the overall team win.

The Tar Heels are now 8-0 to begin the 2021 campaign and have won 10 consecutive matches dating back to the shortened 2020 season. Sunday’s match was the first UNC has played against a conference foe.

Georgia Tech, meanwhile, fell to 6-4 overall and 1-2 against ACC opponents.
