UNC senior defender Alex Comsia was chosen Wednesday as one of 60 NCAA men’s and women’s soccer players named as candidates for the 2018 Senior CLASS Award–which recognizes excellence both on and off the field.

Student-athletes must be a senior at an NCAA Division I institution and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence–community, classroom, character and competition–in order to be eligible for the honor.

The “CLASS” portion of the Senior CLASS Award is an acronym which stands for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School.

Comsia has been a starter on defense each year he has been at UNC, earning All-ACC honors as a player last season. He also took home the Elite 90 Award in 2016, an honor given to the player with the highest grade point average at the College Cup.
