Preseason men’s lacrosse polls and awards were released Tuesday by the ACC league office, with UNC picked to finish third in the conference and a pair of Tar Heels making the All-ACC team.

In voting conducted by the conference’s five head coaches, Duke and Notre Dame were selected as co-favorites to win the league title.

Syracuse and Virginia were picked to finish fourth and fifth, respectively.

The coaches also named UNC senior attacker Chris Cloutier–the Most Outstanding Player during the Tar Heels’ 2016 national title run–and junior defender Jack Rowlett to the 13-player preseason All-ACC roster.

Each team had at least two players on the roster. Duke, Notre Dame and Virginia tied for the lead with three All-ACC selections apiece.

The ACC also boasts four of the nation’s top 10 teams in the preseason USILA Coaches Poll, including the Tar Heels at No. 9.

UNC is scheduled to begin its regular season on Saturday at Kenan Stadium when it hosts Lafayette. That game is scheduled to start at noon.
