Despite entering the NCAA Women’s Tennis Singles Tournament Second Round in Winston-Salem riding an 18-match win streak, UNC sophomore Makenna Jones fell victim to the upset bug on Thursday–falling in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4 to Duke’s Kelly Chen.
Jones was the tournament’s No. 2 overall seed, and was recently named the ACC Tournament MVP after leading the Tar Heels to victory in that event.
She also represented the last of the three UNC players remaining in the women’s singles tournament.
