A list of 20 watch list candidates for this year’s Lisa Leslie Award was revealed on Friday, with UNC junior Janelle Bailey among those that made the cut.
This marks the second consecutive season that Bailey has earned this honor, which recognizes the top centers in women’s college basketball.
As a sophomore last season, Bailey averaged 16.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game–earning a Second Team All-ACC nod as the top frontcourt scorer in the conference.
She is once again expected to be one of the Tar Heels’ team leaders this season in the first year under new head coach Courtney Banghart.
The watch list for the Leslie Award will be narrowed to 10 candidates in mid-February.
