The ACC announced late Monday afternoon that UNC freshman forward Janelle Bailey has been named the ACC Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week for the second time in the last three weeks.

A McDonald’s All-American selection coming out of Providence Day School in Matthews, North Carolina, the 6-foot-4-inch Bailey has quickly established herself as the go-to option in the frontcourt for head coach Sylvia Hatchell.

UNC went 3-0 last week, with Bailey averaging 15 points and 12.3 rebounds per game in the process–including a 25-point, 13-rebound performance in the Tar Heels’ 90-70 win over Hartford last Friday.

At 14.9 points per game for the season, she also leads all ACC freshmen in scoring.

Bailey and the Tar Heels (6-2) will go for their fifth straight win on Tuesday, when they host Presbyterian at 6 p.m.
