A list of 60 NCAA men’s and women’s soccer players who excel both on and off the field were selected Monday as candidates for this year’s Senior CLASS award in the sport, with UNC’s Jack Skahan and Mauricio Pineda each being nominated.
Eligibility for the honor requires student-athletes to be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
Skahan and Pineda have each been All-ACC performers for the Tar Heels during their time in Chapel Hill, while also taking care of business off the field as well.
The initial lists of 30 men and 30 women will be narrowed down to 10 finalists midway through the season, with winners being revealed during the 2019 Men’s and Women’s College Cup championships in December.
