After scoring a career-high four goals in the UNC field hockey team’s 6-4 win over Liberty on Sunday, junior midfielder Malin Evert was recognized Monday as the ACC Offensive Player of the Week.
She became one of only eight players nationally to score four goals in a single game, and set a new single game season-high for UNC this season.
Entering Sunday’s game–the Tar Heels’ regular season finale–Evert had scored only five goals in 16 appearances.
UNC has had a player win the ACC Defensive Player of the Week honor on three occasions this season, but this represents the first time in 2017 that the Tar Heels have earned the Offensive Player of the Week award.
Evert will look to keep it up this week, as fifth-seeded UNC (13-4) opens its ACC Tournament run on Thursday in Louisville against No. 4 seed Wake Forest.
