Fresh off a pair of shutout victories on the road over No. 5 Virginia and James Madison, the top-ranked UNC field hockey team swept the ACC weekly player awards on Tuesday–with Erin Matson and Amanda Hendry recognized as the league’s Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.
Matson won the award for the fourth time in five weeks this season after scoring five goals and dishing out two assists across the two games, including a four-goal performance in the 9-0 win over James Madison on Sunday.
So far this season, Matson leads the country with 1.67 goals per game and is second nationally with an average of one assist per game.
Hendry, meanwhile, received an ACC weekly honor for the first time this season after recording six saves against Virginia and two more against James Madison–a 100 percent save percentage for the weekend.
The Tar Heels are 9-0 in 2019, after finishing 23-0 last season en route to the NCAA championship.
