The ACC announced Tuesday that UNC teammates Meredith Sholder and Bryn Boylan have swept the league’s Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards for their performances in the Tar Heels’ 3-1 win over Wake Forest this past Sunday.
In what is still the only collegiate field hockey game to be played so far, Sholder scored UNC’s only goal that did not come from a penalty corner. It was her first game since 2018 after missing all of last season due to injury.
Boylan, meanwhile, provided a defensive spark off the bench in a game where the Tar Heels held Wake Forest to just seven shots and one penalty corner attempt.
This represents the first ACC weekly honor for both players.
UNC is scheduled to return to action with a road game at Louisville on Oct. 2.
