As if the UNC men’s basketball team hasn’t had enough problems with injuries this season, the Tar Heels suffered perhaps their toughest blow to date on Sunday–when it was revealed that freshman point guard Cole Anthony is out indefinitely with an injury to his right knee.

Anthony will not play against Wofford on Sunday, as the team announced it will evaluate and determine treatment plans for its star player over the next few days.

The Tar Heels have struggled mightily on offense this season after losing their top five scorers from last season, but Anthony has been one of the lone bright spots during the team’s first nine games.

In that time, Anthony has averaged 19.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.

UNC will also be without the services of sophomore guard Leaky Black, whose injury status was described as “game-to-game” with a sprained foot.

These injuries come just over a week after freshman forward Armando Bacot left UNC’s loss to Ohio State with a sprained ankle. Bacot returned for the Tar Heels’ next game against Virginia, but has not looked 100 percent.
