UNC senior defender Ashley Hoffman was selected Tuesday as the ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts in the top-ranked Tar Heels’ 2-0 victory over No. 4 Duke this past Friday.

It marks the second time Hoffman has received the honor this season, although she shares this one with Boston College goalkeeper Sarah Dwyer.

With Hoffman leading the way, the undefeated Tar Heels have posted shutouts in five of their eight games. In addition, she also leads the team with seven goals.

UNC will return to action on Wednesday when it hosts No. 15 Virginia at the newly renamed Karen Shelton Stadium in Chapel Hill (12:30 p.m.).
