The Charlotte Hornets officially opened up their training camp for the upcoming 2018-19 NBA regular season on Tuesday at the Dean E. Smith Center in Chapel Hill.

Owned by former UNC legend Michael Jordan, the Hornets are spending the week practicing in Chapel Hill before taking on the Boston Celtics on Friday in a preseason game.

The game will be the first Hornets’ preseason contest held at the Dean Dome since they played two there back in 2006.

This past offseason saw Jordan hire Mitch Kupchak–another Tar Heel legend–as the Hornets’ new general manager. Charlotte also has UNC alum Marvin Williams on the roster as well.

“We are excited to bring Hornets basketball back to the Smith Center for the first time in more than a decade,” Hornets President & Vice Chairman Fred Whitfield said. “We look forward to opening the preseason portion of our 30th anniversary season with the great basketball fans in the Triangle.”
