The UNC field hockey team closed out its regular season in style on Friday evening at Karen Shelton Stadium, rolling to a 5-0 shutout victory over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

All-American Erin Matson scored three goals to lead the Tar Heels (7-1), who won their sixth straight game after having their ACC-record 47-game win streak snapped earlier this season by Louisville.

Cassie Sumfest and Meredith Sholder each added a goal to the winning cause as well, in a game where UNC built a 2-0 lead in the first four minutes of action and never looked back.

The Tar Heels tallied 14 shots compared to 10 for Wake Forest, as they picked up their third shutout of the eight-game season.
