When the UNC men’s basketball team arrived back in Chapel Hill following their Elite Eight win over Saint Peter’s, clocks had already struck midnight. Despite that, hundreds of UNC fans, students and community members gathered to welcome them back. The group celebrated the team’s first trip to the Final Four since 2017, with Carolina players and staff parading pieces of their cut nets and the East Regional trophy.

And now, as the team is leaving for their trip to New Orleans and a date with the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday night, UNC fans will once again have a chance to wish them luck.

The men’s basketball team is set to depart from the Dean Smith Center for their flight to Louisiana around 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The UNC community is welcome to arrive, celebrate and help send the players off outside the arena, similarly lining up on either side of Letterman’s Lane — the path between the Smith Center and the Woody Durham Media and Communications Center.

UNC parking on campus is not available until after 5 p.m., according to the university. Those driving to the team send-off will be able to park for free in the Williamson, Bowsles and Manning Lots after 5. Parking options can be found using the Park Mobile app.
