Although Tar Heel fans will always have to imagine the “What if?” questions surrounding two-sport recruit Jordyn Adams, it’s true that his talents are undeniable.

On Wednesday, Adams was named the MaxPreps Male High School Athlete of the Year–just the latest accolade for the football and baseball star out of Green Hope High School in Cary.

Adams recently made the decision to sign with the Los Angeles Angels for approximately $4.1 million after they selected him with the 17th overall pick of the MLB Draft.

That decision was great for his future, but leaves the Tar Heels without their top incoming recruit in both baseball and football.

The 6-foot-2-inch centerfielder–who is also the son of UNC defensive line coach Deke Adams–was a standout wide receiver in football, as he caught 54 passes for 1,060 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior at Green Hope. On the baseball diamond, however, he was also named an All-American after hitting .453 and stealing a whopping 31 bases.
