Pittsboro Police are asking for public assistance locating an individual who allegedly fled the scene after striking two pedestrians Wednesday night.
Authorities said in a release that 27-year-old Dominique Bland and 30-year-old Vara Kricker were struck by a vehicle while walking in the street on Sanford Road around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday. The vehicle that struck the pedestrians fled the scene, according to law enforcement.
Bland and Kricker were transported to UNC Hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Bland was released and Kricker was admitted for further treatment and is currently in stable condition, police said.
Witnesses said the suspect vehicle fled north on Sanford Road toward US 64 Business. Police described the vehicle as possibly a dark-colored van or SUV that will likely have front end damage.
