The UNC men’s golf program dominated the annual ACC honors, which were announced Thursday. Four Tar Heels earned All-ACC honors, including ACC Player of the Year David Ford. Ford is the first UNC golfer ever to win the award.

Head coach Andrew DiBitetto was also named ACC Coach of the Year for the second straight season.

Teammates Austin Greaser, Ryan Burnett and Dylan Menante joined Ford on the 15-player All-ACC team. Each of that quartet is ranked in Golfstat’s Top 50 players in the country, with Ford the highest at No. 5.

Ford is the first sophomore to win ACC Player of the Year since 2010, when the award was split between two golfers — one of them being four-time major champion Brooks Koepka. Ford leads UNC in stroke average (69.67) and is shooting 46-under par for the season, with both of those being the best single-season marks in program history. He finished in the top 10 eight times in 10 tournaments.

Ford and Greaser are both candidates for the Ben Hogan Award, which is given to the most outstanding player in collegiate men’s golf.

DiBitetto is the fourth men’s golf coach in ACC history to win back-to-back Coach of the Year awards. He led the Tar Heels to five team titles this season, the most since 1984-85. This is the first season under DiBitetto a Tar Heel has won ACC Player of the Year.

Carolina will open NCAA regional play as a No. 1 seed on May 15 in Salem, S.C.
