With the area under a winter weather advisory, many local governments and organizations are announcing their schedules will be affected by the weather.
Orange County Government announced it will close non-essential services, including the six early voting sites across the county, at noon on Thursday due to anticipated wintry weather. The county Board of Elections unanimously voted to add early voting hours to Sunday to make up for the closed polls.

Orange County Public Transportation’s (OCPT) fixed route services will end at 1 p.m., according to a press release by Orange County Government. OCPT’s medical services will operate on modified service after noon.
Chatham County announced later Thursday afternoon that some of its government offices and services would be affected by the weather. Early voting locations will end earlier than schedule at 1:30 p.m.,but the Chatham County Board of Elections keeping its normal operating hours.

It wasn’t long before town governments also began announcing closures.
The Town of Carrboro announced its offices would be closing at 1 p.m. on Thursday, with advisory board meetings scheduled for the evening being postponed as well. In its release, the town said crews and equipment are standing by to potentially perform snow removal and deicing activities throughout the afternoon and evening.

The Town of Chapel Hill announced Thursday afternoon its offices and government services would be closing at 2 p.m., including Parks and Recreation and the public library. The town also said Chapel Hill Transit will be suspended beginning at 8 p.m.
Chapel Hill Transit will resume operations at 9 a.m. on Friday.

The Town of Hillsborough was the last municipal government in Orange County to announce its closing. The town said offices would be closing at 3 p.m. with the Planning Board meeting scheduled for Thursday evening also being cancelled.

UNC announced over its Alert Carolina communication service on Thursday it will be moving into Condition 2 around 4 p.m., which means operations will be suspended and classes cancelled.
The university will move back to Condition 1 and resume normal operations at 10 a.m. on Friday.

Durham Technical Community College cancelled classes ahead of Thursday, telling students and staff to stay safe.

North Carolina Emergency Management said Thursday Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warnings have been issued for the entire state and are in effect through Friday morning.

With the Winter Weather Advisory forecast to extending into Friday morning, some groups have already announced delays and closures.
In Chatham County, all early voting sites closed at 1:30 p.m. today and will reopen at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow. The Chatham County Council on Aging’s senior centers are closed and will not offer on-site or home-delivered meals and group activities today.
The UNC Board of Governors announced it will delay its monthly 9 a.m. full board meeting in Chapel Hill on Friday to 10:30 a.m., saying the move will give the public and board members sufficient time to safely arrive.
OWASA administrative offices will open at 11 a.m. on Friday.
Additionally, Chapel Hill – Carrboro Meals on Wheels announced it will be closed on Friday. Carolina Dialysis announced it will be delaying openings at its Carrboro and Pittsboro locations until 8 a.m. on Friday.
