The National Winter Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Orange County and Chatham County, as well as other counties in the region, for the upcoming days.
Rainy weather is expected to turn to snow flurries over the course of Thursday, February 20, according to the department. By Thursday night, snow fall and accumulation may create hazardous travel conditions before clearing up on Friday, February 21 with temperatures in the 40s.
While warmer weather over the weekend may help clear away any precipitation, the Weather Service is warning motorists to take precaution on the roads. It warned that overpasses and secondary roads with no snow clearance could be particularly dangerous.
The advisory is slated to last through Friday at 1 p.m.
