Old NC 86 has reopened after being closed in both directions near New Hope Church Road between Carrboro and Hillsborough on Monday afternoon.
Authorities say a dump truck loaded with asphalt left the roadway and caught on fire. State Highway Patrol Master Trooper Christopher Knox said the dump truck driver traveled off the right side of the roadway before then over-correcting just after noon on Monday.
Knox said the dump truck initially came to rest but caught fire when being towed away. The fire was extinguished and Knox said the roadway was reopened before four o’clock Monday afternoon.
There were no injuries sustained in the crash.
