A gas leak near the Carrboro Century Center on Tuesday caused several streets to close as officials investigated.

At 3:30 p.m., the Carrboro Police Department said traffic was blocked from the South Greensboro roundabout to East Weaver Street, and on North Greensboro from Carr to Weaver streets.

Both Carrboro Police and the Carrboro Fire Department were on scene as Dominion Energy responded to the leak.

As of 4:20 p.m., officials said the gas company has since capped the line, and traffic is now reopened with flaggers at East Weaver Street.

The cause of the gas leak is currently unknown.
