
The Carrboro Fire-Rescue Department was dispatched to a natural gas leak in downtown Carrboro at about 5 p.m. on Sunday. The leak was reported in the area of 106 South Greensboro Street, near the intersection with West Main Street.
Responding crews reported a strong odor of gas and evacuated four nearby businesses. The 100 block of South Greensboro Street through the 100 block of West Main Street was closed, and Dominion Energy was requested to the scene. The leak was secured, all businesses reopened by approximately 6 p.m. and roadways were reopened by approximately 6:30 p.m. No injuries were reported.
A cause of the leak has not yet been determined.
