Chapel Hill motorists and community members will see a street closure in a downtown residential area this week.

Beginning on Monday, a stretch of South Roberson Street in Chapel Hill will be closed amid repairs and replacement to electrical circuits. According to the Town of Chapel Hill, the Raleigh-based company Pike Engineering will be completing the project and closing the road.

The town government said on Friday the circuit replacement is being completed to prevent potential failures and disruptions to power in the area.

The Town of Chapel Hill said the closure will continue through this week and could continue to be closed overnight. No detours are expected to established, but motorists can access West Cameron Avenue and the nearby West Franklin Street by using South Graham Street or Kenan Street.
