Susana Brache of Carrboro won a prize of $1 million from a $10 lottery ticket, the North Carolina Education Lottery announced on Monday.
The lottery shared a release saying Brache bought the ticket from the Short Stop on West Main Street and collected her prize on Monday.
Brache chose to receive a lump sum of $600,000, which after required state and federal taxes comes to $427,503.
The ticket was from the game ‘50X The Cash,’ which debuted in February. Brache won the last of the six top prizes of $1 million, which means the lottery will begin the process of ending the game.

Ticket sales from 50X The Cash and other games raise more than $2.5 million per day for education, with $8.3 million of that going to Orange County in 2022.
