An early morning crash in west Hillsborough turned fatal on Sunday, according to a report.

WRAL reports an SUV wrecked around 5 a.m. while traveling on U.S. Highway 70 in the area near West Hill Avenue in Hillsborough. The outlet says the vehicle traveled down an embankment before striking a large oak tree.

Authorities say two passengers in the vehicle were killed in the crash, with WRAL saying it appeared neither were wearing seatbelts. The driver of the SUV was also “seriously injured” from the wreck and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

WRAL reports authorities did not provide any other details on the incident as of Sunday morning.
