****UPDATE: Officials said that the subject was taken into custody shortly before 6 p.m. Friday.****

Carrboro Police are on the scene at Berkshire Manor West off of NC 54 West on Friday afternoon.

Authorities said there is a subject barricaded at the apartments. A town spokesperson said police were called to the complex responding to reports of a potentially suicidal individual, who officials identified as a male. Authorities said the individual was allegedly armed.

Law enforcement officials are asking motorists and residents to avoid the area until further notice. Residents of the apartment complex are being asked to avoid the perimeter that police have established.
