A Chapel Hill man died over the weekend after being hit by multiple vehicles on the interstate.
The State Highway Patrol said Jerdewarrene Farrar was found dead on Interstate 540 in Wake County on Saturday night. According to a report from WRAL, authorities said Farrar had a minor crash with another vehicle and stepped out of his car into the exit-only lane. He was then struck by an oncoming vehicle and landed back in the roadway.
The Highway Patrol said Farrar was then hit again by a Mazda. The driver exited the vehicle, saw he ran over Farrar and then fled the scene of the accident.
WRAL says troopers are now searching for the driver of the Mazda for not remaining on the scene. The car is described as having front-end damage, but no color description or model was provided.
Farrar was 29 years-old.
