UPDATE: The Chapel Hill Police Department said Sida Xiao was safely located around 4:40 p.m.

The Chapel Hill Police Department turned to the public for help on Monday in locating a teenager not seen in more than a day.

A release from the department Monday morning asked for community members to look out for 16-year-old Sida Xiao, a Chapel Hill residents last seen around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. The teenager is not believed to be in any danger.

Chapel Hill Police described Xiao as 5-foot-9 and having a slim build. He may have been wearing a green backpack and using a black mountain bicycle, but further details of his outfit when last located were unknown.

Monday’s alert encouraged any community members with information on Xiao’s whereabouts or wellbeing to call 911 or contact the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-968-2760 during business hours.
