UPDATE: The Chapel Hill Police Department shared an update at 10 p.m. on Tuesday saying both Aliayah Yaneth Castro and Karina Westerlund have been safely located. Below is the original story.

A pair of teenagers in the Chapel Hill community have been reported missing, according to police — each for the second time in the span of just days.

A release from the Chapel Hill Police Department said they are seeking the public’s help in locating 15-year-old Aliayah Yaneth Castro of Chapel Hill and 14-year-old Karina Westerlund from Carrboro. The alert said investigators believe the pair may be together. Each were part of a group of teenagers reported missing in Chapel Hill last week, although Westerlund was reported safe on Wednesday and Castro was located on Friday according to prior releases.

Monday’s release added the teenagers are not believed to be in danger.

Westerlund is described as 5-foot-4 and was last seen wearing a green top, a black sweatshirt, and black pants. Chapel Hill Police said her last known location was in the area of West Franklin Street and Church Street around 8 p.m. on Saturday. Castro, meanwhile, is described as 4-foot-10 and weighing around 100 pounds. Police said she was last seen Saturday around 7 p.m. in the area of Weaver Dairy Road and Kingston Drive.

Police are urging anyone with information about the teenagers’ whereabouts to call 911 or contact the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-968-2760. Callers who wish to remain anonymous can contact Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC CrimeStoppers hotline (919-942-7515) or visit the corresponding website.
