**UPDATE** Orange County Schools have announced that all buildings and schools will be closed on Friday. The school district will treat Friday as a snow day for students.

Onsite activities and athletics will be canceled on Friday as well and it will be an optional teacher workday for staff.

Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools will operate on a remote learning day for all students on Friday. The Food for Students sites will operating on a one hour delay and food deliveries will take place between noon and 1:30pm. Athletic events will take place and will be adjusted as needed.

Durham Tech will remain closed to in-person services and activities on Friday and Saturday. The college will operate under the Orange designation, which allows instructors to move classes to virtual instruction or cancel.

As North Carolina braces for winter weather beginning on Thursday, local school districts are doing their part to keep students and teachers safe.

Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools announced Wednesday it will hold a remote learning day for all students on Thursday. This may be changed to an Asynchronous Learning Day if teachers or students are not able to connect to online learning due to internet or power outages.

In addition, students will not be counted absent for missing classes due to inclement weather, internet or power outages. All school-based events, including sports, will be canceled and the Food for Students program will not be operating on Thursday.

Both Orange County Schools and Chatham County Schools will not hold in-person or remote learning on Thursday due to all schools and buildings being closed.

All Durham Tech campus locations will be closed to in-person services and activities Thursday through Saturday. The college will operate under an Orange designation, which allows instructors to move classes to virtual instruction or cancel.

UNC announced Wednesday will move to Condition 2 at midnight, meaning all campus operations will be suspended and in-person and remote classes will be canceled on Thursday.
