The public is invited to attend a dedication ceremony of the Cedar Grove Community Center on Saturday.
The free event will take place from ten until eleven o’clock in the morning. Following the ceremony, the center will be open for tours and socializing
The purpose of the event is to celebrate the re-opening of the renovated building, once home to the Cedar Grove Negro School.
The event includes a ribbon cutting, a maypole dance and remarks from government officials and community leaders.
The centers provide flexible spaces for recreation, social and educational activities, according to a release. They also provide spaces for storage and entrepreneurial support.
A new feature at the community center is the addition of a self-serve library station adjacent to the building.
This is the third collaborative project between the county and a local neighborhood community association.
The Cedar Grove Community Center is located at 5800 Highway 86 North, Hillsborough.
