The towns of Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Hillsborough, as well as Orange County, have announced their winter holiday service schedules, which include closures and different schedules through this week.

The administrative offices and facilities for Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Hillsborough and Orange County will all be closed Tuesday, Dec. 24, to Thursday, Dec. 26. The offices will also be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020.

In Chapel Hill, curbside recycling will not be collected on Wednesday, Dec. 25, and there will be no yard waste collection this week. Chapel Hill Transit will not operate on Wednesday, while working on a Saturday schedule for Thursday. It will also not be running on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020.  The Chapel Hill Public Library will be closed from Tuesday through Thursday and also on Jan. 1, 2020.

The Town of Carrboro says residential trash will not be collected on Wednesday, Dec. 25, or Thursday, Dec. 26, with alternate pickup dates on Monday and Friday.

In Hillsborough, citizens whose garbage is normally picked up on Tuesdays will receive service on Monday, Dec. 23. Wednesday and Thursday routes will be served Friday, Dec. 27. Due to one of the town’s trucks being out of service, if garbage is not collected Friday, cans should be left curbside to be collected Saturday.

Orange County’s curbside recycling will run as normal on Tuesday and  Thursday. Recycling for Wednesday Dec. 25 will be collected on Saturday Dec. 28 and recycling for Wednesday Jan. 1, will be collected on Saturday Jan. 4. The county requests residents have their recycling bins out by 7 a.m.
